Objective
Aviation is entering an era of profound transformation, driven by the urgent need for safer, greener, and more efficient air traffic management (ATM). At the heart of Europe’s vision stands Trajectory Based Operations (TBO), a cornerstone of the European ATM Master Plan that will enable secured and timely exchange of aircraft trajectories among all actors, to support collaborative, data-driven decision-making. Early deployments are expected by 2035, targeting optimized flight profiles, reduced emissions, lower costs, and increased capacity. Yet this shift demands more than new procedures, it requires a digital revolution capable of managing unprecedented complexity as traffic grows and autonomous systems join human-operated fleets. JARVIS-CONNECT, led by Collins Aerospace, answers this challenge by accelerating the transition toward highly automated, AI-enabled ATM. Building on the achievements of the JARVIS project, JARVIS-CONNECT will mature and integrate digital assistants for pilots and controllers to TRL6, creating trusted human-machine teaming in TBO environments. The ambition is to automate collaboration between air and ground through a collaborative digital AI-enabled system that ensures safety and performance in complex decision-making. Two solutions will be validated in high-fidelity environments: (1) an AI-based digital assistant that supports pilots in complex TBO scenarios, and (2) an intelligent voice-communication system that enhances pilot/air traffic controllers exchanges. By 2029, JARVIS-CONNECT will validate how trusted AI and digital assistants can transform TBO from concept to reality, setting the stage for scalable automation, sustainable operations, and a new era of European aviation leadership. This is not just research: it is the blueprint for the future sky.
