Biomimetic antimicrobial peptide inspired by insects to combat multi-drug-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii

Objective

OMN6 is a synthetic cyclic peptide developed to treat infections caused by multidrug resistant A. baumannii, a WHO critical priority pathogen linked to high mortality. After a clean Phase 1 and an ongoing Phase 2, PEPTAMR moves OMN6 toward late clinical development with the goal of delivering a regulatory-ready Phase 3 package
The project will expand clinical data collection across Europe, complete the preclinical work needed to justify dosing and indications, run a healthy-volunteer lung penetration study, and finalise a stable, scalable clinical formulation ready for manufacturing. A companion diagnostic roadmap will be prepared to help clinicians identify patients who can benefit most.
Led by OMN with VIV, MUV, NKUA and ECR, PEPTAMR combines industry and academic strengths to produce the assays, models and clinical evidence that will enable licensing and broad hospital use. The ultimate aim is to provide hospitals with a safe, effective, and practical therapy for a deadly, hard to treat pathogen.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Keywords

Project’s keywords as indicated by the project coordinator. Not to be confused with the EuroSciVoc taxonomy (Fields of science)

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
