ATTRACT EXPAND

Objective

ATTRACT EXPAND is a 48-month initiative led by 5 major European Research Infrastructures (ERIs, of which 4 ESFRI Landmarks) to accelerate technology maturation in line with their Strategic Research and Technology Agendas. Its objectives are to: (1) advance breakthrough concepts in detection, imaging, and computing from TRL 1–2 to TRL4, (2) strengthen RI–industry–academia collaboration, and (3) generate deployable solutions addressing EU ERI scientific & industrial needs, and transition priorities.
The objectives will be achieved through a cascade-funding Open Call to select ~30 high-potential concepts. Technologies will be developed in co-creation to ensure alignment with ERI operational and integration requirements. This guarantees compatibility with ERI upgrade plans, scientific user community expectations and supply chains. Support activities include technical mentoring, business model development, investor-readiness programmes and access to investor communities. A KPI-driven framework will track progress on TRL progress, SME participation, industrial uptake and investment leverage. A student programme, directly connected to the funded projects, is included to expand future deep-tech entrepreneurial capacity.
The approach meets the Work Programme goal of enhancing scientific competitiveness of RIs and fostering integrated innovation ecosystems. Projects will receive 36 months of tailored support, culminating in RI integration workshops and final pitches to decision-makers, investors and manufacturers. Outputs (standardised integration notes, open-access demonstrators and market-oriented roadmaps) will accelerate adoption in ERI programmes, industrial applications, and new technology markets. ATTRACT EXPAND will thus act as a scalable innovation pipeline, contributing to Europe’s competitiveness, resilience, and capacity to close part of the innovation gap identified in the Draghi report.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Keywords

Project’s keywords as indicated by the project coordinator. Not to be confused with the EuroSciVoc taxonomy (Fields of science)

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
