Objective
Nets4Dem introduces a pioneering network of networks approach, aiming to establish a connected European community of democracy practitioners, policymakers and researchers. By interweaving existing actors and networks in the democracy sector, Nets4Dem aims to capitalise on their strengths while reducing duplication. Overall, the project seeks to overcome challenges by facilitating collaboration, knowledge sharing and policymaking advancements to build inclusive societies and resilient democracies. The project systematically bridges fragmented knowledge on democratic innovation, builds capacity for impactful democracy initiatives in diverse local contexts, and develops innovative solutions and policy recommendations. Nets4Dem puts forward an inclusive, participatory and deliberative network governance structure, modelling the type of democratic practice it seeks to foster at all levels of governance. It allows members to co-decide on strategic priorities and work programs of Nets4Dem and to respond rapidly to shifts in the political landscape. The network will operate primarily through needs-based, agile and member-driven working groups supported by joint collaborative action and regular collective rituals to ensure coherence, connection, and a shared sense of purpose. This responsive architecture will enable the network to flexibly meet emerging democratic needs across Europe. With our consortium alone, Nets4Dem covers over 200 cities, 75 national governments, 50 universities and think tanks and 400 CSOs.
