Diamond for Industry REady Quantum Technologies

Objective

DIREQT will develop a diamond quantum pilot line for Europe. Among all quantum technologies, artificially produced single-crystal diamonds incorporating atomically controlled spin-defects are intrinsically quantum chips. With room-temperature operation, long coherence times, nanoscale spatial resolution, they address all areas of quantum technologies—quantum computing, communication, and sensing. Based on a mature advanced chips production, diamond quantum technology is close to applications with numerous use-case in all three areas. DIREQT will develop advanced Quantum Process Design Kits to translate diamond quantum technology innovation and lab-scale production into a robust, stable and scalable production of diamond quantum chips. The objectives of DIREQT are to:
(1) Consolidate the value chain, from the diamond quantum material to integrated devices, achieving higher Technology Readiness Level (TRL) / Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL)
(2) Fully integrate the testing and experimentation facilities in the pilot lines
(3) Strengthen the collaboration and innovation within the European diamond quantum ecosystem,
(4) Create a sustainable and open-access framework to support accelerated development and market introduction of next generation devices.
(5) Transition pilot-scale production into industry-ready diamond-based devices that meet the needs of the quantum industry over the next decade,
The DIREQT consortium gathers 13 RTOs, 8 universities, 9 companies, and one non-profit organization, covering the entire diamond value chain. Service providers and use-case companies will be added during the project. DIREQT partners are already engaged in initiatives such as the Quantum Flagship and national competence centers. By maturing the diamond quantum chips production, DIREQT will drive breakthroughs impacting key sectors like automotive, healthcare, consumer electronics, telecommunications, and finance.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Keywords

Project’s keywords as indicated by the project coordinator. Not to be confused with the EuroSciVoc taxonomy (Fields of science)

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.

CONSIGLIO NAZIONALE DELLE RICERCHE
Net EU contribution

Net EU financial contribution. The sum of money that the participant receives, deducted by the EU contribution to its linked third party. It considers the distribution of the EU financial contribution between direct beneficiaries of the project and other types of participants, like third-party participants.
