Science Comes to Town: Bringing Science Closer to Citizens - Science4Everyone

Objective

Science4Everyone will implement a transformative and sustainable model for public engagement with science, turning European cities into living science hubs. Anchored in the five EU Missions, the project will deliver a year-long programme of over 1,400 participatory events and activities across Aarhus (DK), Genoa (IT), Kaunas (LT) and Oeiras (PT), ranging from large-scale festivals to citizen science experiments, interactive exhibitions, science cafés, theatre, and games-based learning. By bringing science into everyday places – libraries, markets, parks, community centres – Science4Everyone will make science inclusive, accessible, and relevant to diverse audiences.
The action connects major European science festivals, municipalities, and research organisations into a pan-European network of science communication hubs, supported by a dynamic community of Brand Ambassadors. Flagship events include hosting the EU Contest for Young Scientists (EUCYS 2027) in Genoa and EU TalentOn 2027 in Kaunas, showcasing Europe’s brightest young talents.
Structured around four programmatic pillars, the project will: (1) implement a EU Mission-driven programme of innovative engagement formats in four mid-size European cities; (2) inspire young people through EU-wide competitions (EUCYS 2027 and EU Talent On 2027) and career pathways; (3) extend outreach beyond host cities through “Science Without Borders” strand, including Brand Ambassadors, synergies with other European projects and initiatives and policy dialogues; and (4) build a strong, recognisable Science Comes to Town brand.
