Technical Advancement and Learning for Technical Staff Upskilling and Mobility in European Research Infrastructures

Objective

Pan-European Research Infrastructures (RI) are essential scientific and technological facilities that provide resources and services to scientific communities to conduct cutting-edge research. Personnel involved in such large-scale RIs need to be uniquely adept and skillful to optimally support and promote the RIs to ensure optimal uptake and outreach. Despite significant strides in the training of RI technical staff, key training modules and learning aspects remain under-addressed. TALENTUM proposes a training & up-skilling program that focuses on the ‘Health & Food’ domain, and brings together two key RIs, AnaEE-ERIC and METROFOOD-RI, in the goal of developing a ‘one-stop shop’ for training services that spans Food, Health, and Ecosystems expertise. This focus ensures that TALENTUM directly addresses a high-impact domain of societal relevance, while also providing a testbed for cross-domain transferability to other ESFRI RIs. To ensure that training also addresses transversal, human-centered, and cutting-edge skills, TALENTUM also pairs with CLARIN-ERIC and Citizen Science experts to ensure a balanced framework of competencies that will provide present and future professionals in RI the necessary arsenal of learning needed to carry out their RI-specific activities. In addition to delivering advanced training, the project will also formalise it through accreditation, certification, and micro-credentials aligned with EQF standards, ensuring recognition and portability across Europe. Moreover, TALENTUM will embed sustainability from the outset, designing fee-based and mixed funding models to guarantee continuity beyond Horizon Europe funding. In doing so, TALENTUM responds directly to the expected outcomes of the call: enhancing the technical expertise of RI staff, creating structured mobility and career opportunities across Europe, and developing a unified, accredited training service that consolidates fragmented offers into a coherent European framework.

Keywords

Project’s keywords as indicated by the project coordinator. Not to be confused with the EuroSciVoc taxonomy (Fields of science)

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
