Objective
EXPANSE AI is about more than just scaling technology; it's about cultivating the conditions, ecosystems and collaborative frameworks needed for the responsible, high-impact deployment of AI across Europe. Through the development of methodologies for societal and economic impact assessment, and the embedding of market foresight and stakeholder engagement, the project will establish a European model for the transformation of AI research into trusted, scalable solutions that promote economic competitiveness and societal well-being.
EXPANSE AI's approach fosters the development and market entry of promising research outputs, specifically technological solutions leveraging AI, robotics, semiconductor tech and virtual worlds. Its core methodology focuses on risk mitigation and capacity building, matchmaking with testing facilities, combining expert guidance with self-assessment tools and a Scale-Up Academy a structured training programme. EXPANSE AI will involve industry associations such as ADRA and EPoSS , which is part of CHIPS JU. Their engagement ensures that the project is embedded within the wider European strategic agenda for AI, data, robotics (AI continent action plan, Invest AI Strategy, AI (giga)factories, cloud and AI Development Act), as well as international semiconductor value chains to drive the innovation in Edge AI. By providing alignment with the European Competitiveness Compass including EU startup and scaleup strategy, these associations help accelerate the project’s momentum and credibility from the outset.
