CO-creating Regenerative and Resilient coastAL futures

Objective

CORRAL will support Local and Regional Authorities (LRAs) in navigating the socio-technological and ecological transitions needed for coastal communities to adapt to a changing climate. At its core, the project develops and applies the Coastal Regenerative Resilience (CR2) framework, an innovative yet practical methodology for designing and implementing adaptation solutions that are coherent, inclusive, and time-bound. Eight demonstration sites across diverse European geographies, including all three EUCRA coastal hotspot areas will be used as testing grounds for innovative planning, socio-technical and digital and solutions. Working within stakeholder alliances based on trust, consortium partners and regional actors will co-design regenerative resilience visions, chart adaptation pathways, and implement transformative adaptation solutions on the ground. These solutions will address multiple, and in some cases compound and cascading, climate risks while remaining maladaptation-proof. Supported by expert partners, LRAs will harness interdisciplinary scientific methods to advance a new digital coast paradigm, nature-based solutions, and social innovation. Building on these achievements, CORRAL will scale up the CR2 approach by shaping those enabling governance conditions and aligning identified coastal adaptation portfolios with financial resources. In parallel, the project will scale out by engaging LRAs beyond the consortium through close collaboration with the EU Mission and other initiatives. Resources will be made accessible and lessons transferable via capacity development, a community of practice, policy recommendations, and targeted communication to highlight the transformative potential of coastal adaptation.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Keywords

Project’s keywords as indicated by the project coordinator. Not to be confused with the EuroSciVoc taxonomy (Fields of science)

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
