Objective
The Bed Based Echo is an innovative medical device that uses robotics and artificial intelligence to autonomously perform cardiac ultrasounds. Millions of these ultrasounds are conducted annually across Europe to support diverse clinical needs, all currently performed by trained sonographers or even cardiologists. However, a chronic shortage of these professionals in Europe and other developed countries limits diagnostic capacity and results in long patient waiting times.
The Bed Based Echo is the world’s first autonomous cardiac ultrasound device. It was developed with the goal of increasing the capacity of healthcare organizations and shortening patient waiting times. It has reached Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 7 and is currently undergoing clinical studies involving over 300 patients in four Dutch hospitals. We have developed four machine learning models capable of determining the optimal path and angle for the ultrasound probe, trained with millions of proprietary images collected during a volunteer campaign. Corbotics’ multidisciplinary team comprises 22 members, with the founders covering key roles in the company.
Our customers are hospitals and diagnostic centers. We will offer them two different versions of the Bed Based Echo: one for screening purposes coupled with a lower-end ultrasound system, dedicated to diagnostic centers, and one for diagnostic purposes coupled with a higher-end ultrasound system, dedicated to hospitals. Within the next two years, our goal is to exceed the performance of manually conducted ultrasounds in terms of accuracy, speed, and cost-efficiency.
Several customers in the Netherlands and Spain have already formalized their interest through Letters of Intent, and many others worldwide have expressed enthusiasm for our solution. We plan to penetrate the EU, UK, and US markets primarily through direct sales. By 2035, we aim to serve at least 1,250 healthcare organizations and conduct over 5 million exams annually.
