Objective
Satellites have become critical enablers of real-time global awareness, driven by the rise of small satellite platforms and significantly reduced costs across design, manufacturing, and launch to space. Modern onboard sensors can now detect features smaller than 0.5 meters and even monitor atmospheric gases.
However, the increasing volume and precision of satellite imagery means that petabytes of valuable data are either never delivered or arrive too late to support time-sensitive decision-making. The current workflow requires data to be downlinked, transferred, and processed on the ground, which often takes hours, days, or even weeks. This latency remains one of the biggest challenges for end users, especially in sectors such as security, emergency response, and critical infrastructure monitoring, where each hour of delay can result in significant business losses or wasted taxpayer resources.
The SKAISEN System addresses this challenge by combining three core components: proprietary AI-based algorithms for detecting actionable insights in orbit(SKAISEN Edge), a high-performance onboard hardware unit (SKAIDOCK), and a cloud-based platform for direct delivery of insights to end users (SKAISEN Ground). Together, these technologies, deployed as satellite constellations, will transform satellites from passive data collectors into autonomous smart sensing nodes.
The SKAISEN System is designed to deliver actionable satellite insights to end users in under 10 minutes, eliminating the need to wait hours or days.
