Cooperation across Regional Innovation Valleys fostering Digital Transformation in Circular and Resilient Manufacturing Value-Chains and Data Cooperation

Objective

Regional Innovation Valleys provide a practical framework to connect strong and emerging regions, use existing S3 and build synergies. Manufacturing RIV builds on this approach. Through a co-funded action plan, the project vision is to bring together diverse stakeholders, encourage data sharing and support SMEs in joining Europe’s innovation pathways. This will strengthen cooperation between regions, increase SME participation in advanced manufacturing and help meet Europe’s sustainability and resilience goals.
With a focus on easing the twin transition to digital and green sustainable production, we will provide tools, services and FSTP mechanisms designed to open the doors for solving manufacturing technology challenges and establishing new circular and resilient value-chains for resource-constrained entities like SMEs, but also all other manufacturing stakeholders along the Penta-Helix approach (industry, academia, governments, potential investors, and innovation intermediaries). We will contribute to net-zero objective, enable higher circularity, and reduce environmental impacts for the industrial products, oriented at up to eight horizontal thematic areas that are critical for manufacturing value chains.
This way we will introduce an innovative approach, enhancing manufacturing services for a broader spectrum of technological possibilities, applying cascade-funding mechanisms towards upgrading services to offer more collaborative circular manufacturing opportunities. We will also address challenges related to data cooperation and results will be shared and exploited within the major Europe-wide manufacturing data platforms (i.e. Gaia-X, EUProGigant, Manufacturing-X, Pontus-X) and beyond, enabling secure and standardised data exchange in value-chains of manufacturing companies.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Keywords

Project’s keywords as indicated by the project coordinator. Not to be confused with the EuroSciVoc taxonomy (Fields of science)

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
