Objective
EQUIP makes Europe quantum secure-by-design by delivering efficient, secure, verifiable, and compliant implementations of Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) across hardware and software platforms in IoT, automotive and cloud. Although first PQC standards achieve mathematical security, their resilience against side-channel and fault attacks remains a key deployment challenge.
The state of the art in secure and efficient PQC implementation is fragmented, offering mostly point solutions to narrow challenges, with limited coordination among domain experts. EQUIP will be a paradigm shift, driving the missing interdisciplinary effort needed to redefine how PQC algorithms are engineered for real-world use through five ambitious objectives: (1) systematizing knowledge via taxonomy-driven analysis; (2) developing security testing methods and automation aligned with the Cyber Resilience Act and EU Cybersecurity Certification Schemes; (3) creating secure and efficient PQC implementations with novel countermeasures and countermeasure-friendly PQC designs, optimized and experimentally validated on embedded, FPGA-hardware and CPU platforms; (4) evaluating and refining countermeasures through practical attack analysis and lab experimentation; and (5) maximizing impact through dissemination, standardization, and open science. EQUIP will deliver open-source demonstrators at TRL4.
Adopting a cross-disciplinary design–test–attack cycle, EQUIP bridges algorithmic, physical security, hardware/software design, and verification aspects to iteratively enhance security and performance. Our consortium comprises leading European partners with complementary expertise: three academic institutions, two deep-tech SMEs, and one industry partner, combining experience in secure and efficient implementations, PQC design, and countermeasure development. The partners have a strong track record in research, publications, and industrial collaboration within relevant legal and standardization frameworks.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.

Net EU financial contribution. The sum of money that the participant receives, deducted by the EU contribution to its linked third party. It considers the distribution of the EU financial contribution between direct beneficiaries of the project and other types of participants, like third-party participants.
