Objective
Diratech is developing Xensio, a next-generation AI-powered X-ray inspection platform that redefines industrial food safety and quality control. The system uniquely combines few-view 3D imaging, photon-counting spectral detection, and cognitive artificial intelligence to achieve real-time contaminant detection at production speeds of up to 20 m/min. Unlike conventional 2D or dual-energy systems that detect only dense materials, Xensio provides volumetric, 3D-like insight that enables reliable identification of low-density contaminants such as plastics, rubber, bone, and glass-in-glass within complex and multilayered products. Its adaptive, physics-grounded AI engine integrates spectral and spatial analysis, continuously learning from operator feedback to improve accuracy, transparency, and trust. This explainable, human-in-the-loop approach transforms X-ray inspection from a rigid, expert-dependent process into an intelligent, scalable, and accessible technology.
The project will advance Xensio from TRL 4 to TRL 6 by demonstrating inline few-view photon-counting CT imaging with cognitive AI interpretation in real industrial environments. The 18-month work plan combines technical validation, AI optimization, and pilot deployments with early adopters, supported by comprehensive business scaling and IP strategies. By significantly enhancing detection performance while reducing waste and false rejects, Xensio will directly strengthen food safety, sustainability, and regulatory compliance in line with EU Green Deal and Industry 5.0 objectives. Its modular and cost-efficient design will make advanced inspection accessible to both large and mid-sized manufacturers, positioning Diratech as a key enabler of Europe’s transition toward transparent, human-centric, and data-driven manufacturing.
