Real-time Access to Predictive Intelligent Diagnostics – eXpert sensing (RapidX).

Objective

RapidX aims to advance a portable, reagent-free diagnostic platform that enables real-time assessment of porous industrial materials such as granular activated carbon and ultra-high-performance concrete. Developed by EMBIO Diagnostics, a Cyprus-based deep-tech SME, the technology will progress from a validated TRL 4 prototype to a TRL 6 demonstrator through laboratory benchmarking, large-scale data acquisition, and operational validation in two industrial pilot sites. The project integrates multi-channel electrochemical sensing with AI-based interpretation and a secure cloud platform to deliver fast, accurate and low-cost diagnostics. Activities include firmware optimisation, AI model development, system integration, continuous pilot testing, and CE-aligned conformity work. These steps will confirm performance, reproducibility, user acceptance, and cost savings relative to conventional laboratory testing. The project supports the objectives of the Work Programme by strengthening SME participation from widening countries, improving access to advanced research infrastructures, and accelerating technology maturation. RapidX will contribute to reduced chemical waste, improved resource efficiency, and enhanced monitoring capacity in sectors essential to the green and digital transitions.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

Keywords

Project’s keywords as indicated by the project coordinator. Not to be confused with the EuroSciVoc taxonomy (Fields of science)

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
