Objective
TrueCold-Fab aims to advance a new approach to ultrashort-pulse laser microfabrication that combines high precision, fast processing and clean, chemical-free operation. Many European industries, including microelectronics, photonics, medical devices and advanced sensors, require increasingly small and complex features, yet current manufacturing methods cannot meet these needs without either slowing production or generating significant waste. The proposed technology addresses this gap through optical beam control and thermally neutral processing, enabling stable and precise material modification without reliance on chemicals or mechanical steering systems.
The project seeks to mature the technology from laboratory validation to pilot demonstration in relevant environments. Two pilots will be carried out: one in a research laboratory to confirm precision, stability and usability, and one with a system-integrator to demonstrate workflow compatibility and integration potential. These pilots will generate evidence on performance, user value and deployment readiness.
To support future commercialisation, the project will combine technical validation with structured business development. This includes assessing market demand, gathering user feedback, analysing workflow benefits, and preparing regulatory, intellectual property and investment documentation. The outcome will be a clear pathway toward early market entry and readiness for follow-on funding.
TrueCold-Fab is fully aligned with the objectives of the EIC pre-accelerator call for widening countries by strengthening a deep-tech SME, raising technology readiness, validating business potential and preparing the company for future participation in the EIC Accelerator and other investment instruments. It contributes to improved access to excellence by enabling a high-value, EU-developed microfabrication capability with strong relevance to digital and green transitions.
