Objective
NURRAPEUTICS develops first-in-class, selective Nurr1:RXRα small-molecule modulators that act through a unique biophysical mechanism driving multi-pathway neuroprotection, anti-inflammatory activity, and proteostasis restoration. Nurr1 is a well-established regulator of neuronal survival and homeostasis, and current Parkinson’s treatments remain purely symptomatic with no impact on progression. By selectively modulating Nurr1—rather than broadly activating RXR—our compounds unlock a differentiated, mechanism-based approach to multi-pathway disease modification in Parkinson’s disease.
Using a proprietary Mechanism–Structure–Function approach, SyNoesis has generated a portfolio of brain-penetrant, orally active candidate modulators supported by orthogonal biophysical assays and robust in-vivo efficacy across multiple PD models. These candidates show favorable profiling in potency, selectivity, ADMET and preliminary safety. Two new composition-of-matter patent families covering the Gen-3/4 chemotypes are fully drafted and ready for filing upon project invitation for funding.
During the 24-month EIC Pre-Accelerator, NURRAPEUTICS will progress from TRL 4 to TRL 6, completing CMC development, PK/PD integration, and two-species GLP toxicology to produce a Quality-Assurance-approved IMPD/CTA dossier. This will enable a Phase-I-ready asset within 12 months post-project. In parallel, we will reach IRL 8 by finalizing the business plan, investor data room and partnering strategy.
The outcome of NURRAPEUTICS is a first-in-class, mechanism-driven therapeutic approach with strong preclinical evidence for disease-modifying potential in Parkinson’s disease, developed through a capital-efficient EU pathway and positioned for Accelerator Fast-Track readiness.
