Objective
DEEP-HEALTH will raise scientific excellence and innovation capacity in AI-driven and data-enabled Health Technologies by building strong and lasting synergies between Widening and non-Widening Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). The project will modernize institutional governance, improve research management, and accelerate digital transformation through reforms, skills development, and joint research, helping universities in Widening countries take a stronger role in European R&I. Based in Greece and involving partners from Czechia, Germany, Spain, Belgium, and France, the consortium will build a balanced network of universities advancing digital health research and innovation.
The work is structured around five pillars: Education & Skills, Research Excellence, Institutional Modernization, Digital Transformation and Ecosystem & Partnerships, to raise scientific performance, digital readiness, and innovation uptake in HealthTech. Participating HEIs will co-develop a Strategic Research & Innovation Agenda (SRIA), update research assessment systems in line with CoARA & ERA principles and adopt AI-based tools for data management and open science. Training modules, staff exchanges, and mentoring will enhance digital and entrepreneurial skills, while seed projects will test interdisciplinary collaborations, including targeted seed activities that establish a unified AI and data governance frameworks and advance precision oncology and mental-health monitoring through multimodal, clinically oriented digital-health research.
By connecting universities with healthcare providers, SMEs, policymakers, and citizens, DEEP-HEALTH will create a lasting ecosystem for digital health innovation. Expected results include improved governance, interoperable digital infrastructures, accredited training, shared research resources, and durable partnerships. The project will boost scientific excellence and visibility of Widening HEIs and support Europe’s digital and health transformation.
