VignetteID: AI-Driven Platform Unlocking Pan-European Tolling and Ukrainian Strategic Autonomy

Objective

Vignette ID addresses the severe technological fragmentation of the European highway toll market, which is currently split between standard E-vignettes and incompatible legacy hardware (DSRC/IoT) systems, primarily across the Balkans. The limit of current practice is the inability of competitors to seamlessly bridge these two physical and digital payment worlds. We are developing the Hybrid Mobility Core, a proprietary deep-tech middleware platform that solves this. Our solution leverages an Event-Driven Architecture (EDA) to orchestrate asynchronous IoT traffic, ensuring sub-200ms transaction latency at toll barriers, which is crucial for public acceptance and operational success.

2. TRL Progression and Deep Tech Assets
This project is structured as a 24-month program to transition the technology from TRL 4 (lab-validated prototype) to a TRL 7 (commercial operational platform). This leap is anchored by two key proprietary assets:

AI Fine Resolution Engine: A specialized Natural Language Understanding (NLU) model trained on thousands of unique cross-border fine templates. This system automates the legal validation of fines with >90% accuracy, drastically reducing manual workload.

HaaS Protocol & Logistics: We utilize the grant to establish a verified supply chain for 5,000 Kapsch transponders (WP3) and a <3 day delivery logistics chain (WP5), which turns our technology into a deployable commercial service.

3. Commercial Validation and Strategic Impact
The project's high impact is validated by substantial market traction (1.3 million users and 12 B2B partners). We leverage this existing user base to validate our Hardware-as-a-Service (HaaS) model, targeting the sale of 5,000+ IoT transponders (TRL 7 KPI). This success will unlock the massive B2B Freight and Logistics market and is supported by a strategic pilot with a leading German car manufacturer.

Crucially, this initiative provides a direct and tangible contribution to Ukrainian economic resilience

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
