Objective
MUSE-X is a Ukrainian deep-tech AI+XR platform that turns digitised museum collections into immersive VR exhibitions and a network of VR spots. With many Ukrainian museums damaged or destroyed by Russia’s war, MUSE-X provides a non-physical layer of heritage preservation and access, turning digitised collections into VR experiences that can be safely stored, shared and travelled. This supports the transmission of cultural and historical knowledge to new generations, creates innovative cultural exchange with Europe ahead of EU integration, and lays the groundwork for museum resilience and sustainable economic models in post-war recovery. It also tackles an EU market gap: museums have digitised collections but are still losing young audiences, while interest in location-based VR grows fast.
MUSE-X builds a pan-European XR network with Ukraine as the anchor and first market. A deep-tech platform converts heterogeneous museum data into curator-controlled, auto-generated VR/XR exhibitions via a heritage knowledge graph, computer vision and parametric XR templates, outputting experiences for headsets, WebXR and mobile. Turnkey VR-spot packages (hardware, software, marketing) upgrade existing museums – including war-affected and recovery-region museums – into location-based immersive hubs.
Building on TRL-4 prototypes tested on 120+ artefacts in five Ukrainian museums, the project will integrate them into a cloud-native platform and validate it in at least 10 pilot museums in Ukraine and the EU. We aim for TRL 5 by mid-project and TRL 6 by the end. Pilots will cut production time per tour by 70–80%, enable 10–20× more tours per collection, prove a repeatable business model – and leave MUSE-X investment-ready for the EIC Accelerator.
For Ukraine’s recovery, MUSE-X creates AI/XR jobs in culture, turns museums into safe civic hubs, embeds sustainable post-war business models, exports digital products and positions a Ukrainian SME as a cultural XR provider to EU.
