Objective
Cognibotics, a deep-tech Swedish company, pioneers innovation in high-performance automation for logistics and manufacturing. Building on two decades of research in hybrid kinematics and motion control, the company introduces the HKM1800 - a new class of high-speed, long-reach industrial robot designed to overcome the inherent trade-offs of today’s robotic systems.
The HKM1800 addresses critical limitations in current industrial automation: slow throughput, limited reach, and high integration complexity. Conventional 6-axis robots are flexible but heavy and slow, while delta robots are fast but constrained to small workspaces. The HKM1800 combines the strengths of both through a proprietary hybrid-kinematic architecture and Juliet & Romeo™, Cognibotics’ open, real-time motion control software. The result is a lightweight robot capable of over 2,000 picks per hour across a 10 m² workspace, delivering up to ⅓ more energy savings and reduction in material use and CO2 emissions.
Currently at TRL6, the HKM1800 prototype has demonstrated initial functionality in relevant industrial environments. However, the pilots identified crucial areas for improvement that form the basis of the proposed EIC Accelerator project. With the EIC, we will advance the robot to TRL9, focusing on intelligent perception and AI-driven autonomy, enhanced elasto-kinematic control, intuitive human–machine interfaces, certified industrial production, and final pilot validation.
The technology will unlock automation in dense, high-throughput environments such as e-commerce fulfilment, post-and-parcel handling, and micro-manufacturing - previously uneconomical for existing robots. Our goal is to reinforce Europe’s technological sovereignty in robotics, an area explicitly identified under the Strategic Technologies for Europe Platform (STEP) as critical to reducing external dependencies, in a global landscape currently dominated by US and Asian providers.

Net EU financial contribution. The sum of money that the participant receives, deducted by the EU contribution to its linked third party. It considers the distribution of the EU financial contribution between direct beneficiaries of the project and other types of participants, like third-party participants.
