FREIGHT TRANSPORT INFORMATION FOR COLLABORATIVE NETWORK - ACCELERATING INTEROPERABLE B2B AND B2A DIGITAL FREIGHT DATA EXCHANGE BEYOND EFTI COMPLIANCE

Objective

eFTI-CONNECT project is designed to accelerate the digitalisation, interoperability, and sustainability of European freight transport. Building on the EU’s eFTI Regulation (2020/1056), the project develops and demonstrates advanced digital tools, shared data services, and cross border pilots that expand eFTI’s value beyond compliance toward efficient, low emission, SME friendly logistics.
The project’s core ambition is to create an eFTI CONNECT Service Hub that contains multiple solutions enabling seamless B2B and B2A information exchange across multimodal supply chains. These solutions include AI based document digitalisation, customs data validation, CO2 and external cost calculators, sustainability as a service functions, no code data mapping tools, federated data sharing mechanisms, and harmonised multimodal datasets aligned with the eFTI Common Data Set and UN/CEFACT data models.
Three large scale pilots—Baltic, Adriatic, and Iberian—validate the solutions under real operational conditions. They demonstrate:
• cross border multimodal eFTI data exchange for RoRo traffic and emergency response;
• federated B2B and B2A sustainability reporting for CSRD compliance;
• interoperable use of eCMR, eFTI, port community systems, GHG calculators, AI assistants, and digital twins along a major TEN T corridor.
Regulatory harmonisation, data governance, cybersecurity and stakeholder acceptance play important role in project activities and solution development. The project produces policy roadmaps and best practices to support EU wide uptake. Impact assessments of developments quantify efficiency, emission reduction and administrative burden improvements, with strong scalability potential to the EU’s 1.4 million logistics SMEs.
eFTI CONNECT ultimately delivers a replicable framework for trusted, multimodal, interoperable and sustainability aligned digital freight data exchange, strengthening Europe’s transition toward greener, smarter and more resilient logistics.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
