Objective
WATERWAY ONE transforms inland waterways from fragmented, locally managed systems into a federated, bookable and predictable multimodal transport option by exposing infrastructure and operations as interoperable digital services—without creating new platforms—and validating this approach in real cross-border TRL-7 operations.The project operationalises EU data-space and DTLF principles in inland navigation by delivering a federated, standards-aligned framework that enables legacy RIS, port and logistics systems to interoperate through bookable node-services, shared governance and evidence-grade Key Performance Indicators—providing the missing link between smart vessels, smart infrastructure and multimodal logistics at EU scale.
