FLEXIBLE INTEGRATED ON‑SITE ROBOTIC FACTORIES FOR ADVANCED BUILDING RENOVATION AND CONSTRUCTION

Objective

FIELD‑FAB - Flexible Integrated On‑site Robotic Factories for Advanced Building Renovation and Construction
Overall ambition

The project will accelerate deep renovation and high-quality new construction by deploying a Modular On‑Site Robotic Field Factory (MoRFF) that bridges factory‑quality envelope elements with fast, safe, accurate, low‑impact on‑site assembly and installation.

The work advances the state of the art by integrating specialised robotic modules with cross‑cutting digital/safety modules, validated in lab and relevant environments across representative renovation and construction typologies. A robust comparative methodology will demonstrate measurable improvements in time, accuracy, resource efficiency and reduced pollution versus current best practice.

The objectives collectively address the call topic challenges (sustainable, resource‑efficient, less disruptive renovation/construction), meet scope requirements (validation of ≥ 3 innovative on‑site robotic/automated solutions with 3D printing, robust comparative methodology, worker safety/HRC, lab & relevant environment testing across renovation and construction), and target the expected outcomes (time reduction, accuracy and resource efficiency gains, reduced noise/air pollution).

VISION: Accelerate deep renovation and high‑performance new construction in Europe by deploying a Modular On‑Site Robotic Field Factory (MoRFF) that bridges factory‑precision off‑site production with fast, safe, accurate, low‑impact on‑site assembly.

CORE INNOVATION: A deployable, modular, collaborative set of on‑site robotic units with integrated BIM/Digital Twin orchestration, automated QC/monitoring, and worker safety & human‑robot collaboration (HRC), validated across representative renovation and new‑build scenarios and three prototype modules—including on‑site 3D printing.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.

Net EU contribution

Net EU financial contribution. The sum of money that the participant receives, deducted by the EU contribution to its linked third party. It considers the distribution of the EU financial contribution between direct beneficiaries of the project and other types of participants, like third-party participants.
