Autonomous Robotic Inspection and Manipulation via Elastic Hybrid Vision-Language-Action (EH-VLA) models

Objective

"Europe’s critical infrastructure faces a dual crisis: a projected 7-million-worker shortage by 2030 and hazardous manual maintenance. While autonomous robotics currently support monitoring, the transition from ""seeing"" to ""doing"" remains the final frontier. Energy Robotics, Europe’s leader in autonomous inspection, is bridging this gap via the ARIM project. ARIM introduces a modular Physical AI software stack that integrates real-time perception, reasoning, and safe physical intervention (Sense-Think-Act). By adding ""Act"" capabilities to a hardware-agnostic platform, we transform robots and humanoids into autonomous maintenance workmates capable of complex tasks in harsh environments. This represents a fundamental reconfiguration of industrial reliability and sovereignty. By bridging the gap between digital perception and physical execution, ARIM significantly contributes to securing Europe’s energy future and solving the structural labor deficit."

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Keywords

Project’s keywords as indicated by the project coordinator. Not to be confused with the EuroSciVoc taxonomy (Fields of science)

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
