Objective
Radar Reticence develops the world’s first interference-free radar waveform architecture designed for automotive applications. As vehicles move toward higher levels of automation (L2+/L3), the number of radar sensors per vehicle is increasing rapidly. In dense traffic environments, overlapping radar signals lead to mutual interference, causing missed detections, false alarms, and reduced reliability of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).
Existing mitigation approaches, such as digital or imaging radar architectures and software-based post-processing, are costly, compute-intensive, and inherently reactive. Because they do not prevent interference at the source, they scale poorly with increasing radar density and are not suitable for mass-market deployment.
Radar Reticence introduces a patented dual-sweep modulation combined with a signal association method that enables interference-free radar operation by design. Implemented as firmware/IP on existing automotive radar chips, the solution eliminates interference at the transmission level, without requiring coordination between vehicles. This enables large-scale coexistence, supporting 1,000+ radar units per GHz under realistic automotive conditions.
The technology improves radar reliability in dense traffic and supports the continued evolution of ADAS and automated driving. Radar Reticence commercializes the solution through IP licensing to Tier-1 suppliers, enabling scalable deployment across multiple vehicle platforms. The project addresses a growing global market opportunity for a key enabling mobility technology developed and controlled within the EU.

Net EU financial contribution. The sum of money that the participant receives, deducted by the EU contribution to its linked third party. It considers the distribution of the EU financial contribution between direct beneficiaries of the project and other types of participants, like third-party participants.
