Objective
Despite the progress in modern plant breeding methods, crop implementation still requires breeders to regenerate and screen thousands of plants over multiple months or even years, just to find a few positive lines with the target traits. This is because no current regeneration technology enables reliable screening at the cellular stage or guarantees that regenerated plants originate from a single cell, turning early phasis into a black box and forcing over production. Because of this, current breeding processes are inefficient and slow, and constitute a critical bottleneck driving time, cost, and attrition in annual and perennial breeding pipelines.
CellTera introduces the first platform enabling reliable single-cell-derived plant regeneration combined with early genetic screening at the cellular stage. By overcoming the fundamental limitations of conventional bulk regeneration workflows, it allows breeders to isolate, track, and select monoclonal cell lines before committing to full plant regeneration. This breakthrough transforms plant regeneration from a slow, manual bottleneck into a scalable and automation-compatible process, dramatically accelerating trait implementation and reducing development costs. By eliminating the need to blindly regenerate tens of thousands of plants thanks to its chimerism-free, cell stage screening, CellTera accelerates trait implementation timelines by over 4x, reduces costs by 10x and increases throughput by 30x.
EIC Accelerator blended support enables us to complete development and demonstration activities for our high-impact European agricultural biotechnology platform, accelerating market entry.

Net EU financial contribution. The sum of money that the participant receives, deducted by the EU contribution to its linked third party. It considers the distribution of the EU financial contribution between direct beneficiaries of the project and other types of participants, like third-party participants.
