Objective
Reproducibility is a cornerstone of trustworthy science, yet structural barriers - from publish-or-perish culture to limited open science infrastructure - undermine it across Europe, especially in widening countries. In the bioeconomy domain, where research findings directly inform high-stakes policy and investment decisions, weak reproducibility carries real economic and environmental costs. ARRIOS tackles this challenge head-on. The project conducts independent replication of 8+ high-impact bio-based R&I studies spanning biotechnology, biomaterials, biorefining, and sustainability modelling. Guided by an innovative incentive scheme, external collaborators join consortium teams in a two-stage replication programme supported by field-adapted protocols and OS tools. ARRIOS establishes 5+ new European Reproducibility Networks in widening countries and creates ReBIS: a permanent Coordination & Support Hub for Reproducibility in Bio-based Science. A co-designed Reproducibility Framework and capacity-building programme translate empirical findings into practical institutional tools. An integrated assessment of institutional, gender, career, and funding barriers generates evidence-based policy recommendations for ERA, national, and institutional decision-makers.
