Objective
GENDER-ENGINES aims to strengthen gender equality and inclusive innovation in the ERA by transforming Gender Equality Plans from compliance tools into drivers of institutional change. Focusing on engineering and business schools, fields where gender imbalances remain significant, the project will support RPOs in Southeastern Europe to design, implement and monitor more inclusive and intersectional GEPs. The project combines mentoring, training, monitoring frameworks and policy dialogue to build institutional capacity and embed gender equality into research governance, innovation processes and organisational cultures. Through comparative analysis, tailored mentoring programmes and gender-responsive innovation case studies, GENDER-ENGINES will help participating institutions strengthen leadership engagement, improve monitoring and evaluation practices, and integrate gender perspectives into research and innovation. The project will generate practical tools, training materials and policy recommendations that will be openly accessible and transferable across the ERA. By promoting knowledge exchange between widening countries and experienced European partners, GENDER-ENGINES will contribute to more inclusive research environments, improved research quality and stronger innovation ecosystems. Ultimately, the project will support the sustainable implementation and wider uptake of inclusive GEP practices across the ERA, in line with ERA Action 5 on gender equality.
