Objective
Early cancer detection significantly improves survival rates, yet current MRI contrast agents lack specificity, limiting their diagnostic precision. Developing targeted bioimaging solutions is crucial to enhancing detection accuracy and patient outcomes. This project aims to overcome this limitation by utilizing our one-step activation method to construct a targeted bioimaging multimodal system. Compared to traditional functionalization methods, one- step activation offers key advantages: simplicity, efficiency, mild conditions, orientation control, and scalability. This approach enables the rapid (2- minute) and mild loading of MRI contrast agents and targeting ligands onto the PEGylated nanocarriers, enhancing imaging precision. The ability to customize targeting ligands and contrast agents makes the targeted bioimaging system adaptable for detecting various cancers, addressing a critical unmet need in precision diagnostics. By repurposing clinically approved PEGylated nanocarriers, this project has the potential to accelerate clinical development and revolutionize targeted bioimaging for early cancer detection.
