Objective
QUANTIS aims to advance hybrid quantum–classical computing as a practical paradigm for addressing complex optimisation, modelling and uncertainty quantification applications for use-cases and problems with industrial interest. Despite the rapid progress of Quantum Computing (QC), current developments remain fragmented across algorithmic alternatives, effective software implementation, and target HPC infrastructures, with limited validation beyond proof-of-concept settings.
The project establishes a structured international and intersectoral collaboration framework based on staff secondments, enabling direct knowledge exchange between academic, industrial and technological partners. This mobility-driven approach connects algorithm design, software implementation and application-level validation in a continuous workflow. QUANTIS brings together a consortium of 11 partners from universities, industry and research centres, involving 101 person-months of secondments over four years (2027–2030).
QUANTIS focuses on three complementary directions to exploit hybrid quantum-classical workflows: quantum machine learning for high-dimensional biomedical modelling, quantum Monte Carlo methods for uncertainty estimation in finance, and probabilistic safety assessment in energy systems as a rigorous testbed for risk and reliability analysis. These domains are linked through shared methodological challenges, including numerical stability, and uncertainty-aware modelling. Also, the systematic benchmarking of the solutions will play a key role in the project as a means to validate the results.
The project develops interoperable hybrid quantum–HPC workflows and validates methods through pilot demonstrations in realistic environments, ensuring robustness, scalability and transferability.

Net EU financial contribution. The sum of money that the participant receives, deducted by the EU contribution to its linked third party. It considers the distribution of the EU financial contribution between direct beneficiaries of the project and other types of participants, like third-party participants.
