Objetivo
The function point analysis (FPA) has become the state-of-the-practice method of software cost estimation during the last five years. The LATURI tool supporting the FPA method was developed in Finland by the Information Technology Development Centre (TlEKE) with the support of a number of Finnish companies.
The RiskMethod was developed within the ESPRIT project MERMAID (Esprit 2046) of the ESPRIT programme for assessing the risks of a software project. The method and the RiskTool were developed in Finland by the Technical Research Centre of Finland (VTT) with the support of several Finnish companies.
These two sets, method and tool, have now been integrated. Experience of utilising an integrated software cost estimation and risk assessment toolset has not been reported anywhere. The main objectives of this application experiment are:
- to introduce an integrated set of enhanced software cost estimation and risk assessment methods and tools to select Finnish industrial companies
- to help those companies establish sound practices on that set of methods and tools and
- to evaluate the benefits of the experiment within each company.
