Objective
ENCRESS aims to establish a focused Special Interest Group (SIG) in the area of software and systems safety and reliability, comprising a network of clubs operating in individual member states. Each club will be based on a model which has been a proven success for nine years in the UK under the same co-ordination (CSR). A typical club member will be an engineer from industry with a need to be informed about the relevant technical issues. ENCRESS will seek to work with any existing groups (such as EWICS), but in many countries new groups will need to be established to become part of the wider network. Activities of clubs within countries will be largely autonomous, but the international network (which may become a CEPIS SIG) will provide a means of speeding the flow of information in the software safety and reliability area into industry throughout the European Community. A Conference of the entire SIG will be held annually. Ultimately the SIG will be sufficiently well established to continue operation indefinitely, based on membership subscriptions.
