European Observatory on Software Process Improvements

Objective

To provide the User Community with the widest visibility and deepest understanding of the impact of the Pilot Phase of ESSI, by disseminating a comprehensive information coming from the analysis of most of, and possibly all, AEs(Application Experiments), their proposers, and their results. The action is built around two events, CQS94 and CQS95, the VIII and IX editions of the most important yearly Conference and Tool Exhibition on Software Engineering in Europe (CQS94 will be held in Rome, September 26 through 29). CQS94 will dedicate to ESSI a new track of the conference in which EurOSPI will present a thorough analysis of AEs, giving a true picture of the real state of software engineering practices in User Organisations all over Europe (emerging needs and trends, willingness to invest, lessons to learn, etc.).

At CQS95, EurOSPI will present the analysis of the development activities and results of some of the retained AEs. The effects on User Organisations of the dissemination action performed along the project life will be evaluated by means of conferences, tutorials, papers and publications.

Selected Application Experiments and some software engineering best practices adopted by proposers for organisational, methodological and technological aspects, will be presented during both conferences.

Co-operation with AEs will be carried out whenever possible and, in particular, with those Consortia willing to give access to their experiences and to exchange data/results with EurOSPI representatives.

To avoid undue pressure on AEs, hints from the Commission, in the form of lists of AEs willing to be contacted, are highly appreciated.
