Objective
It is absolutely necessary for the companies of the Community to obtain greater competitivity on the market. It is with this aim that many mergers and re conversions have taken and will take place, which will undoubtedly entail conversion processes.
Within the general framework of the ESSI objectives, the aim of the experiment consists of establishing the method, techniques and requirements for tools to apply in order to carry out conversion processes which cover any source platform and any target platform based on relational Data Bases.
The following benefits are derived from this main objective: greater efficiency and security in the implementation of conversion projects, drastically reducing the effort required and guaranteeing obtaining an application with future projection and not, as in the majority of conversions, a candidate application for redesign and new development, all this by means of an increasing in application of software engineering practices.
The amount of conversions currently to be carried out, as well as future conversions make the fulfilment of the above-mentioned objective extremely important. for the BBV, for PROFIT, the companies of this country and those of the community.
