Objective
The Commission needs to make more efficient use of transport models. Such models can improve the quality of decision making by providing a quantified analysis of policy options.
This project considers the Commission's requirements for analytical services based on the use of models & the available options. The options are developed in consultation with the Commission and assessed against a set of criteria including cost, conformity with policy requirements and risks. This leads to a short list of preferred options for which a specification and ' prototyping' is carried out.
The outputs are twofold. One, the specification/demonstration of the preferred options. Two, a Longer Term Options Plan which links the project to the future development work on the European Transport Information System, and options for more model standardisation. Hence the project blends short term solutions with a longer term strategy.
