Neural modelling for reactive turbulent flow simulation

Objective

The main objective of this R&D activity consists of the development of a computer simulation tool for the design and analysis of combustion systems to achieve really reduced computational efforts and development costs. Due to the high costs of the experiments, time consuming computer simulation (CFD) of combustion system represents the main investigation activities to select design quantities and architectures to be tested. The expected strong decrease in CFD effort will allow testing a large number of designs that show an improvement of fuel consumption and emission levels.

This objective will be pursued by the following intermediate objectives: development of model-experiments data base on turbulence and chemical kinetics, development of Neural Models for turbulence and chemical kinetics with the aid of data bases, integration of Neural Models into CFD tools for fast computer simulation, development of demonstrators to prove gain in computational effort and flexibility.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
