Objective The aim of current research project is to characterise the changes of the chromatin structure necessary for efficient elongation of transcription by RNA polymerase II, and also reveal the key interactions between chromatin modifications and transcriptional elongation. Analysis of chromatin structure, in the context of transcriptional activity of the gene, will be carried out in the budding yeast (Saccaromyces cerevisiae) model system. Also the mechanisms leading to removal of nucleosomes from actively trans cribed genes will be studied.
