Objective
Manufacturing of discrete products made by batches represents a very significant part of the GDP in the developed countries, even though this economical relevance, innovation in Manufacturing is usually carried out at a regional level. Therefore, this SSA tackles the challenge of setting up the bases for a future European Research Area on Manufacturing, based on a regional structure. To achieve that, this Specific Support Action pursues the following concrete objectives: - To provide an European Manufacturing map. - To facilitate the systematic reciprocal and public knowledge on Manufacturing research & development regional programmes, identifying good practices. - To contribute to ERAWATCH initiative, from the Manufacturing side. - To establish a Work Plan, to be developed further into a Coordination Action, walking towards an European Regionally-based Research Area on New Processes and Flexible, Intelligent Manufacturing Systems.
