Thiocarboxylic Acid Derivatives: New Tools in Organofluorine Chemistry

Objectif

Within the tremendous development of organic chemistry, several specialized field have gained their own fame, both from their fundamental interest and their application. The organic chemistry of the heteroelements is symbolic of how can be artificial the c lassification of the sub-disciplines. Almost each heteroelement has its own international symposium, as if any heteroelement should be developed ignoring the others, such over specialization may restrict the creativity of the chemists whose mission is to e xplore any combination between the elements.Owing to the size of fluorine atom (the smallest element after hydrogen) and its electronegativity (the most electronegative element), its introduction into organic molecules induces considerable modification of their physico-chemical and biological properties. As a result, the family of organofluorine compounds play a crucial role in materials, pharmaceutical, agrochemical and more generally bioorganic chemistries. On the other hand, numerous very important organ ic reactions are the result of sulfur and/or silicon-mediated transformation of functional groups. The purpose of this project is to combine specific properties of sulfur and silicon derivatives to create new tools for the development of new reactions/produ cts in the field of organofluorine compounds. The key intermediates and reaction concepts of the project are:- thiocarboxylic acid derivatives- thiophilic nucleophilic attack- the high fluorophilicity of silicon- nucleophilic trifluoromethylation- electroph ilic trifluoromethylation.
