Objectif
Demonstrate the durability, reliability of large scale (2MW) variable speed wind turbines with improved performance (5% increase in electricity output) in a high wind speed area (9.8m/s at hub height), resulting in production costs of 0.041/kWh. Demonstrate innovative conversion of wind generated electricity to ensure reduced negative impacts on the electricity network.
The innovation relates to optimised reactive power control, rapid reaction to wind turbulence and active oscillations and harmonics management. Demonstrate additional increase in electricity production by adjusting re-start wind speed threshold (currently set at 20m/s) following turbine cut-out (at 25m/s) using a fuzzy logic approach incorporating historic wind velocities, gusting data and wind energy forecasting.
