Objective
The primary objective of the proposed Accompanying Measure is to quantify the scope for EU industry to cooperate with their Chinese counterparts for the provision of technology and services to improve the energy efficiency and environmental performance of the existing coal-fired power plants (that represent some 80GWe of capacity in the range 125 MWe - 300 MWe which must continue to be operated and life extended). This will directly aid the competitiveness of European industry in the Chinese market, and assist in stabilising the levels of transnational greenhouse gases arising from the Chinese power sector.
