Advanced maintenance and repair for offshore wind farms using fault prediction and condition monitoring techniques

Objective

Main objective of the project is to lay the foundations for condition depending maintenance and repair (M&R) strategies for wind energy converters (WEC) in offshore wind farms. As a basis for such strategies, condition monitoring and fault prediction hardware and software has to be integrated into installation of farm technology.

Within this project, comprehensive solutions for installation of the required sensor equipment in WEC will be worked out; existing condition monitoring and fault prediction techniques will be investigated relating to their applicability for use in WEC. New WEC specific techniques will be developed. Algorithms for condition depending M&R scheduling will be worked out. All software parts of the project will be designed as "plug-in" components for existing products, e.g. for wind farm management tools.
