Objective
The overall objective of the project is to support the realisation of Energy from waste in the EU by pressurised gasification, an innovative technology which can be applied for the medium scale power applications for which (10-20MWe) for which a large market is known to exist. The project will also have a significant effect on the socio-economic aspects of sustainable development and will be assisting the EU towards meeting its Kyoto obligations.
More in particular project will demonstrate the efficient gasification of RDF and used tyres in an existing IGCC plant at full scale (an endeavour never attempted before) and will prove the operational reliability of the plant with significantly lower environmental impact compared to other disposal processes. The project will also solve a major environmental and disposal problem concerning these waste streams which is faced by numerous local authorities in the regions of the EU while at the same time generating power and heat.
