Objectif
The project will be devoted to the study of complex dynamical phenomena in solar plasmas. The main emphasis will be on the study of the solar oscillatory and convective motions, and on the dynamics of the regions of magnetic activity. The project is intend ed to give a contribution to this research, trying to promote the application of some recent techniques, used so far in the study of turbulence and complex systems, in the analysis of dynamical processes observed in solar plasmas.
The specific research objectives are:
(1) to better understand the dynamics of global oscillations and convective motions in the solar interior and atmosphere, by the application of innovative analysis techniques (especially the so called Proper Orthogonal Decomposition), recently introduced in the field of Solar and Plasma Physics, to data coming from the currently operating space and Earth instruments (particularly MDI-SOHO).
(2) to characterize the dynamical processes occurring in regions of high magnetic activity, by analyzing high resolution magnetograms acquired by Earth instruments (especially THEMIS-MTR) and spectral UV, X-ray and gamma-ray observations available from currently operating space missions (SOHO, TRACE, Yohkoh, RHESSI).
On a more general point of view, the scope of the project is to promote an effective professional reintegration of the project coordinator in the host institution. To this aim, the host institution will provide all the necessary arrangements (e.g. mid-term job contract, support in the activity of project coordination and management, high quality infrastructures, supplementary teaching activities) needed for the researcher to successfully implement the project and to pursue a long-term and stable scientific or academic career.
