Objective
This project attempts to develop a regional innovation support system in the Region of North West Romania. The project implies actions geared not only to the development of organisational structures and networks between the actors of the innovation system (between R&D institutions and firms) at a regional, national and international level, but also to the development of the supply of innovation and the stimulation of demand of innovation. The networking and interconnection component of the project wil l be granted by the North West Regional Development Agency. This agency will continue to work in partnership both with regional public and private key institutions in the regional development field, with the West Romania Regional Development Agency, and w ith agencies from EU regions with experience in the provision of RDTI support services and the development of international relations (Metron srl and Instituto Tecnologico de Aragon). In order to achieve the objectives, the project proposes the sequencin g of planned actions in three steps: the set up of the project organisation structure and work plan, and the building regional consensus between the actors; an analysis of the regional innovation system (of forms of financing, technology and innovation su pply, demand and transfer structures) through the use of qualititative methodology; and a definition of a Strategic Framework and Action Plan for the Regional Innovation System based on the results of the previous analysis. While the immediate outcome of the project will be the Strategic Framework and Action Plan for the development of the Regional Innovation System, the project is expected to reinforce existing initiatives in the Regional Development Plan, disseminate a regional innovation culture, and st imulate innovation networks and technology transfer through the implication and coordination of the actors.
