Objective
Moldova has experienced ten very difficult years of transition and has turned into one of the poorest countries in Europe, with more than half of the population living in absolute poverty. To this end the SSA proposed herewith is targeted at 2 important industrial sectors in MD: the agro-industry and the ICT sector. We will introduce the foresight methodology as a powerful driver for controlling the process of industrial diversification including its negative socio-economic consequences. Future-For-MD will ALSO demonstrate the important and value adding impact of the R&D sector in adjusting the system of industrial production. Additionally we argue that foresight as a participatory and network enhancing approach will also strengthen the capacitie s of key actors. The project will hence empower the stakeholders to develop and to run industrial change processes. The project will start with a SWOT analysis in the 2 sectors under scrutiny. Moderated workshops will support this survey. A nationwide o pening conference will present the SWOT results and the foresight approach. After that kick-off, a selected team of stakeholders in MD (core group) will benefit from 2 trainings dealing with foresight and specific tools. In the next step the core group will conduct three regional workshops, focussing on innovation needs and research potentials. Against the background of the SWOT and the workshops two foresight blueprints will be elaborated. With a final conference the project results will be dissemina ted. First implementation steps of the foresight exercise will also be part of the project.
