Objetivo
The analysis of FP6 programs results in 2003 involving all thematic priorities of ERA shows the reduced number of accepted projects coordinated by/or including Eastern European Countries (EEC). The conclusion for the Romanian participation in FP6 project, especially in IP and STREP is that the rate of success is far less than the average. The main reason of this inconsistent participation of Associated Countries, including Romania, is the lack of corresponding infrastructure and the expertise of personnel. Specific measures have been agreed according to Lisbon strategy, in order to reduce the differences in performance between Member States and Candidate States. However, the differences still remain important and are often acute in the case of EEC. In this r espect, the present call has a generous goal for "Reinforcement of Research Capacities" of the three countries Romania, Bulgaria and Turkey, in order to contribute to the Europe cohesion by progressive reduction in the initial gap between EU and Eastern Eu rope region. The main objective of the present proposal is to reinforce the S&T potential and to enhance the capacity of the Polymer Department from ICECHIM to participate as a successful partner in ECFP projects. The targeted priority in ERA in partic ular the 3rd priority NMP, according with the previous research activity of the team and with the promising results obtained in former ECFP projects. In order to achieve the specific objects of the project, some relevant activities will be developed in a c oherent strategy of workplan, most of them involving the cooperation with relevant European Centres with similar preoccupations. The applicant institution represents a promising research institution, with national recognition, with potential and credibilit y. The project is the necessary catalyst agent for national effort and will be a significant input to reach the critical mass to promote the explosion of our research activity in FP6 actions.
