Objective
PREPARE's environment will be based on three tightly integrated components:
a Parallelisation Engine guided by a set of compiler directives that specify data distribution based on the emerging standard High Performance FORTRAN
an Interactive Engine that reports to the programmer to what extent the system can parallelise the program, indicates the obstacles preventing parallelisation, facilitates the removal by the programmer of such obstacles and provides performance measures in terms of the source code
an efficient compilation system based on the CoSy system developed in the COMPARE project (5399) generating highly optimised code that fully exploits the intra-processor parallelism of the target machine
The first commercial outcome is expected near the end of 1994.
