Objective
NMR has established itself as an invaluable tool to investigate the structure and dynamics of biomolecules. Its contributions to the general area of Structural Genomics are expected to be even more widely appreciated, as i) weak interactions between biomol ecules are increasingly recognized as central to the biochemical processes of Life and ii) weak interactions are best grasped by NMR. Europe has a human and infrastructure capital in the field of NMR that is second to none. With this project we intend to p romote the networking and coordination of NMR research in Structural Genomics. The planned activities will include: organization of meetings, exchange of personnel, exchange of good practices, implementation of a virtual laboratory, distribution of an elec tronic newsletter. These activities will be framed by dividing the scientific arena in four broad topics defined as horizontal: a) protein-protein interactions; b) protein-DNA/RNA interactions; c) protein-ligand interactions; d) membrane and immobilized pr oteins. The objectives of the project will be further pursued through vertical topics (sample preparation, NMR methods, strategies to tackle high-molecular-weight systems, software tools) that are relevant for all the scientific areas a-d. The coordination of these researches will be achieved by establishing contacts among existing national and international projects and by providing a platform for exchanges among European researchers. Good practices and innovative procedures will be widely communicated in the virtual laboratory, and complemented by an electronic newsletter. Meetings will be organized in the above areas with the aim of keeping abreast of the progress of research and contributing new materials to the virtual lab. An annual general meeting wil l be organized in order to foster networking and coordination of the research. All activities will be open to European scientists not involved in this proposal or not directly working with NMR

Topic(s)
Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.
